WELCOME TO BIG SKY
A TOWN BUILT ON HISTORY
A beautiful place such as Big Sky, Montana, didn't come from the easiest of beginnings. However, I'm sure the collective census will agree that everyone wants to make sure their beloved town stays beautiful. Today, that still rings true and would make good ol' Clovis Deveraux proud to see what it has become since the town created where he served as the first mayor of Big Sky! And no matter where you look, you can see the beauty in the town. From the view of the mountains to every store on Main Street, there's always something to see. If you ask me, someone who was born and raised in Big Sky, I'm always seeing something different even after all these years!
Big Sky was founded in 1893 and has seen its fair share of ups and downs, but mostly the city has done nothing but grow into what it is today: 131 years later. Visitors to Big Sky can enjoy the perks of living in a friendly place with access to a top-notch ski resort for their recreational enjoyment. There are plenty of places to shop and eat as well as an amazing theater! There's truly something to always peak your interest while you visit! Locals have the added bonus of enjoying exceptional schools for their children in Kindergarten through 12th grade! Once they're done with their first 12 years of school, they can move on to the award-winning Big Sky University to further their education while staying close to home!
No matter what it is though, Big Sky has it all that one would need or even possibly want! I know that I don't plan on leaving this beautiful place. As I was born and raised here, I aspire to also make sure my children and their children are also born and raised right here in this beautiful piece of Montana!

I'm the crazy one of the Falcon bunch. My friends talked me into going to that movie called Pirates of the Caribbean when the first one came out. I loved the movie, and they say I look like Captain Jack Sparrow. So I learned a new way to piss my mother off. To dress up like Captain Jack Sparrow and act like him. She hates it and I love it! I love to clown around and have fun. Though when it comes to my job as a High Mountain Ranger I take it very seriously. Being careful of every little move I make. You never know when something might happen.

My origins date back to before Big Sky was a town or Montana was even a state to the Shoshone Indians who occupied what is Big Sky today. My family descends from the great chiefs of the Shoshone Indians. I can't tell you exact dates, but when most of the Shoshone were rounded up by the army the Big Sky tribe which was small remained untouched. Continuing to live out their lives here. Our ancestor Soaring Sly Falcon and his squaw Golden Dawn were just starting a family when they became one of the founding seven families of Big Sky Montana.
Soaring Sly Falcon was also one of the founding members along with the other six men of the founding families of the Wild Wolves MC. Those men kept up on all of the new trends and made Big Sky What it is today. The MC is still prospering as well. A lot more members than it was a hundred and twenty five years ago. Some of the old bikes from back then remain in the family and are in a special place in our family garage. Almost as if a shrine for them.
I was second born to my parents Cobalt and Solstice Falcon. I was the cause of many a sleepless night, probably what started the trend of nannies. Though I have a feeling that it was dad who got up with me. Definitely not mom. I was a problem child from the beginning you could say. From the time I was old enough to crawl I was getting into anything and everything. Making messes and having fun doing it. When I started to walk and gained my footing I often gave the nannies the slip. It only got worse as I got older. I found fun in tormenting the nannies. All in good fun you see, but it ran quite a few of them off. Mom would be furious, but dad would be chocking holding his laughter in.
When it came time for school I became quite acquainted with the principal's office at the grade school in Big Sky. Never knew when a firework or cherry bomb would go off in the restrooms. For some reason I was always getting the blame. I got quite good at getting away though and hiding as I got older. You could say they were glad to see the last of me when I headed off to junior high. The teachers said it was a cry for attention. That I must not be getting any at home. Well they were right to a certain degree. Mom never paid me no mind unless it was to get after me. Yet she kept having kids growing the brood that she didn't care for in the first place it seemed.
When it came to learning the ways of the mountain and spending time with my father I was all at attention. The mountain had a majestic feel to it, and I loved learning about our ancestors that settled the area. I craved the time spent with my dad and siblings up on the mountain. So it wasn't much fun to be heading off to school when I just wanted to be outdoors and exploring the mountain.
I was going to be a High Mountain Ranger like dad, my uncles, and aunt when I grew up. Classes were boring, and I ended up sneaking out to wander the mountainside. Dad found me hours later sitting in a clearing talking to some deer much to his surprise. I felt like I had a connection with them, and could understand them. When dad made his presence known though they had ran off. I was left to face the music on my own. Dad made a deal with me that if I attended everyone of my classes during the week like I was supposed to that on Saturdays he'd take me with him on the mountain. So reluctantly I gave in and did as he asked and he kept the deal.
In junior high some friends talked me into going to that pirates movie with Johnny Depp. I was fascinated with the movie which was Pirates of the Caribbean. My friends said I sorta looked like the actor in the movie. So before we left I bought me a Captain Jack Sparrow outfit. I knew my mom would hate it, and I couldn't wait to see her expression. I put it on before walking through Big Sky dressed that way acting like the actor in the movie too. By the time I got home word had already reached my mother. She threw a fit, and told me to take the costume off and burn it. Well needless to say I wear it whenever I'm not on duty as a High Mountain Ranger now just to piss her off. Serves her right for the way she only has something to do with us when she wants to look good. She's totally turned her backs on my sisters since the day they were born.
One of my best friends growing up was Ryot Swanson. We had a lot in common and always had fun together. I never saw her as anything but a friend up till freshman year. I had dated off and on through junior high. Always with a different girl as they weren't the one. Usually pissing off the girls in the process, but I was able to win them over with my charm. It wasn't till the first week of our freshman year that I overheard a boy asking Ryot to the first dance of the year. Something snapped inside of me, and I growled at the other boy shocking even myself especially when I said..."She's already got a date with me." I said forcefully and glaring at the boy who quickly took off.
After taking a few deep breaths I turned to Ryot and before she could lay into me I asked her to the dance. A overwhelming desire came over me to kiss her, and I leaned in and when our lips touch it felt like a shock ran through me. I jumped back wide eyed. Dad had said when I found the one that I would know. How he even loved our mom I'll never know. Don't plan on ever asking. "I'll see you later." I quickly said faster than normal and was off running to my class wondering what in the hell I had just done. She was probably pissed at me, and she'd never talk to me again.
Running around a corner too fast I took out some cheerleaders who were practicing in the hallway of all places. All I heard was the screams, before laying under a pile of cheerleaders. Someone was yelling at me that I was in trouble, and when a few of the girls got off of me I realized it was their coach. One of the girls was crying and holding her ankle now. He groaned hearing laughter echoing up and down the hallway.
I ended up in the principal's office that day and a few detention days on top of it. Parents were called, and the principal was pissed when dad just said and...when he was told what had happened. Those detention days were scrubbed, and the principal sent me to class. Which by then when they'd finally gotten a hold of dad the bell was ringing. With a grin I just headed off to football practice wondering if River had heard what had happened yet. He was already dating Ryot's older sister Rebel. So he might know if Ryot was totally pissed at me or not.
Rushing into the locker room I almost knocked over a few guys who said to watch it. I went right to River though. "Is she pissed at me?" He asked him more than anxious to find out. "Man, you're such an idiot! you better go talk to Ryot as soon as you can or she's going to end up doing something to make sure she knocks some sense into you" is what River said to me. I groaned sitting down on one of the benches in no mood to get ready for practice. He'd get his ass handed to him if he went out on the field right now. Jumping back up he said. "I have to find her now." He rushed back out of the locker room then, before the coach came in.
Making my way to the parking lot I saw her and Rebel getting to their motorcycles. Taking off running through the parking lot. "RYOT!" I yelled to get her attention. "RYOT!" I ran out in front of a car then not noticing, but I noticed Rebel look over at me as she was about to get on her bike. They slammed on their breaks, but still clipped me that I bounced slightly off of the hood. I groaned as he hit the pavement not wanting to move now. "Just shoot me now." I muttered wondering why I was having this much trouble with getting to Ryot. Usually I didn't have a problem with girls. Trying to sit up I groaned in pain. Yeah definitely not going anywhere just yet. I didn't think anything was broken though.
When a shadow fell across me I looked up and there she was. It looked like she had a golden halo with the sun highlighting behind her. It barely registered what she was saying to me. "God I love you!" I didn't realize that I had even said it as I was staring at her in amazement. How had I missed how beautiful she was all these years. "Your so beautiful!" I heard laughter and blinked looking to the right of Ryot seeing Rebel laughing, and texting on her phone. Why she was laughing I had no idea. My attention went back to Ryot. "I wanna marry you and have kids with you!" I heard someone say I probably had a concussion to call an ambulance! Ignoring them though I reached up towards Ryot groaning slightly in pain as I did.
Her reply was "Just lay there until an ambulance gets here. clearly, you need medical attention." I groaned though I was seeing stars. I heard someway say there was blood. None of that cared right now. Someone knelt down beside me and I felt them touch my head. "Oww." I said as they put their hand behind my head. I realized it was Rebel who pulled her hand away, and it was covered in blood. I groaned trying to push her away. "I don't need medical attention! I need you Ryot!" Looking back up at her the halo was more bright now around her head, and blurring out her face. I tried to get up then and groaned in pain trying to push through it to get her, and the world turned upside down. I felt arms catch me and lay me back gently. "Did someone call an ambulance?" I heard Rebel ask, before hearing someone say they had. Everything was fading away then and blackness took over.
When I came to I quickly shut my eyes against the bright lights. My head was pounding and hurting. A groan of pain escaped me, and it was then I felt someone poking and prodding at me. I pushed them away trying to gingerly open my eyes. "It's too bright in here!" I grumbled. Someone answered me they needed the light to examine me, and that if they had to the would restrain me." I growled hearing that, but I stayed put hissing in my breath when they'd hit a sore place. They were turning me this way and that. I didn't like any of it. Someone said his father is here. Thank god maybe he could get them to stop messing with me. Somebody answered to let him in since I was a minor. "I don't work in mines." I said quickly hearing a laugh from a few others. It wasn't even registering what the guy was really meaning. It wasn't long before my dad was there taking my hand in his and holding it as he pushed the hair back from my face. I was now laying on my side and he was in front of me. I was able to open my eyes some now as I wasn't looking up at the bright light. He said he was there that everything was going to be alright.
I must have passed out again because when I woke up again I was in a hospital room with my dad sitting there. My head wasn't hurting as bad, but it still hurt, and I was really groggy. He jumped up when he saw my eyes open and close. He said "Your going to be alright Ransym. You have a lot of bruising and a concussion. Split your head open when you hit the pavement. Luckily you weren't hurt worse. What were you thinking?" He asked me and I groaned. "I wasn't. I was trying to get to Ryot I kissed her this morning, and then ran. She's pissed at me." A yawn escaped me and my eyes were growing heavy again as I heard a laugh escape my father. "She's the one dad. The one I want to marry and have kids with." He said "Oh Ransym, you have a few more years before that. Just don't rush into it." I didn't know Rebel had already told my dad what I had said earlier to Ryot. My dad's hand pushing my hair back soothed me back to sleep then.
I slept through the rest of the night then not waking up till almost noon the next day. When I did I had to pee like a racehorse. I tried to get up, but I got really dizzy. Dad came back in the room then with probably a cup of coffee in his hand. "Whoa." He said quickly setting his cup down and he was helping me back into a sitting position. I told him I had to really pee. He grabbed a weird contraption thing set off to the side, and I looked at it in horror. "What is that?" I asked. He explained it was a urinal. "I'd rather go to the bathroom." He muttered bright red at the thought of peeing in that weird thing. Dad told me how to use it after he got me positioned back in bed. He grabbed his cup of coffee and headed out into the hallway to give me some privacy. It took a bit, but I finally went in it. When I pulled it away I almost spilled it. Then almost dropped it on the floor before I got it sit on the table thing beside me. I just wanted to go home.
When dad came back in he called the nurse who came in and took care of it much to my embarrassment. I'd realized all I had on was a gown and nothing underneath it. Sitting up now I was able to see over into the mirror and saw a bandage around my head. I fell back asleep shortly after that and slept a couple of more hours. Dad said they were going to keep me a couple of more days for observation, and I didn't like that at all. Finally they brought me something to eat, but it didn't look very appetizing. At least it didn't taste too bad when I tried it. I wasn't able to eat much of it though. My head was still hurting some, and my stomach was feeling queasy. When I told dad the nurses gave me something for it so I wouldn't get sick on top of everything else.
The next day which dad said was Saturday when I woke up River was there with our younger siblings. To my shock it was quiet in the room. Usually with all of them around the sound is skyrocketing through the roof. Dad and River were talking in hushed tones while the kids were coloring. It was my little sister Skyler who was six that noticed I was awake. She abandoned her coloring book and got up daintily stepping over the others on the floor coming to the bed. She crawled up beside me and leaned over giving me a kiss on the cheek with a smile. I smiled back at her. Even at six you could tell that one day she was going to be a good mother one day. She was always taking care of the ones younger than her. "Hi Rans." She whispered to me. "I hope you get better and come home soon!" She kept on whispering. "Why are you whispering?" I asked her. She said because daddy said I had a headache.
The others said their hellos, and they didn't stay long. After they left I sighed. When dad asked what was wrong I hesitated for a moment. "I know mom wouldn't come see me, but I thought Ryot at least would." I admitted to him. A frown came over his face. I was surprised when he said she'd been here numerous times. She'd been here for hours when I had been admitted. I was just sleeping when she had been there. My cell phone was charging with the cord that River had brought me. There had been blood on it, but dad had cleaned it up. He said Rebel had given it to him when he got to the hospital. That she'd found it on the ground after the ambulance had taken me away. It had been dead though as I had forgotten to charge it the night before so it would be a bit before I could look to see if I had any missed texts or calls. After lunch I dozed off and on. When I woke up once I looked over at dad, but it wasn't dad. It was Uncle Cavalier, dad's identical twin. He said dad had gone home to take a nap, and get a shower, and he'd be back in a few hours. Aunt Carmelita walked in and handed him a cup of coffee as she sat down with her own. Seeing I was awake though she got up and came over kissing me on the cheek, and gushed over me. Somedays I wished she was my mother instead of my own.
The rest of the afternoon I was awake off and on. Every time I woke up I had more visitors from my friends to the Wild Wolves MC. Dad and Uncle Cavalier were members of the club. Just as I planned on being when I was old enough to be. I had three years before I could even think of prospecting though. I kept looking to the door waiting for her. When my phone was charged I turned it on finding lots of messages. I went to one though that had nothing. "I miss you." I hesitated with my finger over the button wondering if I should send it or not. Deciding against it I went to delete it, but hit the send button instead. I sighed thinking oh well. Either she'll answer me or she won't. She was probably still pissed at me. I hadn't gotten a chance to ask River when he was here with the kids earlier. I was about to close out of it when she texted back. "Well, at least you're not dead. Glad that you're able to at least function again instead of just sleep." I sighed reading it and right away another one came in. "We need to talk. When you get out of there, that's the first thing you need to do is let me know so I can come over to talk to you."
I read over it a few times. "Alright. Dad said it will probably be Monday before I get out. Ry I really do like you! These feelings are all so new, and I'm seeing you in an all new light! Just when he asked you out I didn't like it at all, and I shouldn't have spoken for you. It just came out though." I sent the text back to her. There were still visitors coming and going, and my dad wasn't back yet, but I was growing tired again. When Aunt Carmelita noticed she shooed everyone out of the room including Uncle Cavalier. She came over and ran her fingers through my hair, and sang a lullaby to me that I hadn't heard from her since I was little. I was out pretty fast after that.
As soon as I got out of the hospital on Monday I was already texting Ryot when I was in dad's truck and he was taking me home. I knew she was still at school for the day, but I couldn't wait to see her! "Just got released. Heading home now!" typed up and sent the text to her, before sitting back in the car. I must have fallen asleep on the way home cause I woke up later in my bed at home. I blinked realizing dad must not have woken me up, and just carried me up to my room. Remembering I texted Ryot I quickly looked at my phone seeing school had been out for awhile. I groaned wondering if she had come over, and I was asleep yet again when she had come.
I quickly texted her and hearing another phone go off in my room I tried to jump up only to get dizzy. She was standing there above me then as the earth finally righted itself. We had a good talk finally, before my mother interrupted giving me condoms saying she didn't want to be a grandmother. Talk about embarrassing. She told me no kissing till after I got my stitches out. Then I could kiss her all I wanted. Unfortunately I got tired then and fell asleep. She promised to to leave till she said goodbye. I was woken up later to my father coming in with cheeseburgers and onion rings as well as cheese fries for me and for Ryot from the MC Bar and Grill. He said he figured she would still be here. Noticing the condoms he sighed. "I told her to leave the two of you alone." He shook his head and put them in the drawer on the bedside table out of sight. That was our first supper with the two of us out in the open liking one another. Dad came back awhile and said it was time for her to go home that I needed to rest some more. At least I got to enjoy some time with her. After she left dad helped me get ready for bed, and I was out as soon as I was back in bed.
True to her word right after I got my stitches out Ryot let me kiss her, and I guess you could say the rest is history. We had our fair share of make out sessions and we still do. She's the best thing that ever happened to me! We double dated with River and Rebel once in a while, but most of the time we were on our own having fun. We were each other's firsts and more than enjoyed one another.
I loved going out for plays and had fun with them. My senior year it was Pirates of Penzance, and oh man that was the best ever! I got the lead along with Ryot! We were the perfect Pirate couple. Soon after that one of the businessman in town approached me about opening a Pirates Guild here in Big Sky. He was a big pirate buff as well, and did the cosplay at different comic cons as a pirate. I loved the idea, and said I would get back to him. I wanted to talk to Ryot first, and we were in after the talk.
I started prospecting to the Wild Wolves when I turned eighteen which of course was on April Fools day. I loved that day getting to prank my siblings. I usually had one big prank for my mother each year that you could hear her scream for miles away after she got pranked. I'd started training to be a High Mountain Ranger by the time I was sixteen. Through school I was a football player and hockey player. Doing motocross too.
After graduation I started working full time for the High Mountain Rangers. On my off time it was spent with Ryot either going out or we were working at the Pirate Guild. We'd put on shows on the weekends during the summer for the tourists, and made pretty good money at it. The first Christmas after we graduated I asked her to marry me, and luckily she said yes. I told her to set the date, and I'd be ready. Soon after that we were married. Ransym and Rebel were the best man and maid of honor. That was one helluva party that day!
We've been married for six years now, and have three little pirates in training of our own running around! Ages five, three, one and one on the way. Ransym Jr, definitely the spitting image of me, Aslan, and Cove. Dad just loved his grandsons, and of course mom had nothing to do with them. Ryot's parents though adored them, and we usually had one of my younger sisters able to babysit when we wanted to go out. Our lives are great right now even with all the other turmoil going on with our friends.

Rayne sat away from the others somewhat. As it seemed like everyone was paired off but for him. Or they were with their friends. They’d been back from Sturgis for only a few days, and his dad, Rowdy, and Cain were throwing a bash at their place to try and take off some of the stress from what the trip had been. The Oklahoma boys and his dad, and Cain were taking turns getting up on the stage and singing. Oh and even Clyde had gotten up and sang. Their kids called out songs for them to sing, and they’d pick one from one of them. Of course his dad hadn’t asked him. It was mainly his baby brothers and once in a while Rafe or Ryder would yell out one.
Sturgis hadn’t really been any fun and he and his brothers had never gotten that tattoo that he designed. With all hell breaking loose everyone was on high alert the next week so his father and brothers had forgotten about it. He’d slept off and on that next week after what had happened to him. At least the stitches had gotten taken out finally so he didn’t have that discomfort. Though it still aches some, and Stephanie had said it probably would for some time as hard as he had been hit. It itched and bothered him, but he refrained from messing with it not wanting to get it infected as it was healing. The bruises were still there, but not as bad as they had been.
His dad’s attention today was either on Rosanna or his baby brothers most of the time. Feeling tired and left out he got up to head inside to his room. Rafe and Ryder’s attention was on their new found girlfriends. His gaze fell on Athena then who was talking to some of the other kids in the Jr Club, and there were a couple of guys that she was laughing and having fun with. He felt a pang in his heart, and weaved in and out of people to head inside. A stray tear ran down his cheek as he got inside, and he quickly brushed it away. He hissed in his breath at the pain when he had forgotten a moment about his wound. With a deep breath he headed up the stairs when he came up on them.
It wasn’t that much of a walk down the hallway to his room. The pounding of the music and the roar of the crowd outside was inside the house too, and it was giving him a headache. So all he wanted to do was lay down and take a nap. Opening his door a sound caught his attention. Looking up he gasped as there were a couple of guys in the room with their girls having fun on his bed as well as Simon’s bed. He gaped in shock for a few moments, before turning bright red not knowing what to do. He jumped when one of them yelled at him to get out. Quickly he ducked out his head pounding even more and realized then that he wasn’t alone upstairs as he saw others in the hallways too.
Looking up and down the hallways he noticed people going in and out of the theater rooms too. Walking down to his dad’s room he thought he might find some relief in there, but his dad must have locked his door. He tried Rowdy’s and Cain’s finding both of them locked. There was nowhere to go he realized, and he headed back down stairs trying not to cry. That wouldn’t look good in front of the sons around. There was a lot that he had no idea who they were. Including the ones that had been in his room having fun. Feeling lost and really left out he turned at the stairs and a drunk son knocked into him knocking him down. He saw stars when his head hit the corner of a baseboard. Laughter was heard, and then they ignored him. Sitting up he held his hand to his head, and when he pulled away there was blood on his head.
He cringed as his head was killing him even more now. Pulling himself up he hears something crash and shatter somewhere. His vision was a little blurry now, and he felt the blood trickling down his forehead. There had to be somewhere that he could go, and he thought of the garage. Making his way down that way he put the code into the door knowing it had been locked up for the party. His dad was taking any chances with his panhead with someone messing with it. Once the door shut behind him the sound was suddenly gone as the garage seemed to be soundproof. His ears were ringing though from the never ending sound from before.
With an unsteady breath he made his way over to his bike not even fighting the tears now. Sitting on it he laid his head down against the cool gas tank and the sobs came unable to stop them. He wasn’t feeling good at all, and when he lifted his head a while later there was a lot of blood on his bike. Had to be from where he had hit his head. A ride might help him feel better was his thoughts, and he got off pushing his bike out a side door, and around some bikes getting on his bike after making sure the garage was locked back up. If it wasn’t his dad, Rowdy, and Cain not to mention the others with bikes in there would kill him.
Starting his bike he rode down the driveway with the guards not even looking twice at him as there were sons and jr club members coming right and left. Tears were still streaming down his cheeks and there was still blood trickling down so his vision was still a bit blurred. Right now he didn’t care, he just had to get away, and hopefully clear his head. His dad and brothers as well as the others would probably never even notice he was gone. They were having too much fun. A while later he realized that the ride wasn’t helping, and he stopped not even knowing where he was. He hadn’t been this way yet. Only the other direction into town. The throbbing in his head was even worse, and all he wanted was his dad right now.
Turning his bike around he tried to wipe the tears away and the blood, but it wasn’t helping much. With a deep breath he headed back. With his vision obscured, he didn’t see the cloud of dust coming down a dirt road not far away. When he turned on the next road thinking he was going in the right direction the car came out of nowhere. Unable to stop he ran right into it, and he was suddenly flying through the air. The impact of hitting the road knocked him out.
